World’s response to Israeli brutalities disappointing: Shehbaz

At meeting with Palestinian envoy, prime minister reiterates Pakistan's support to the Palestinian cause.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the absence of global accountability of Israel for its brutalities and war crimes were highly disappointing.

He was talking to Palestinian Ambassador Dr. Zuhair Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid, who called on him in Islamabad, Radio Pakistan reported.

The prime minister reiterated the call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance to the suffering Palestinian people in the occupied territories.

The prime minister said that there was an urgent need for a lasting resolution to the Palestine issue, based on the two-state solution, with the creation of an independent state of Palestine with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital in accordance with the UN’s relevant resolutions.

He said that the international community had failed to punish Israel for its war crimes in Gaza. This lack of accountability has emboldened Israel to continue its barbarism in Gaza where it has killed over 43,000 people and brought destruction to the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Zuhair Mohammad Hamadallah Zaid appreciated Pakistan’s steadfast support to the Palestinian people during their present ordeal, as well as Pakistan’s principled position on the Palestinian Question.

He thanked the Prime Minister for his support for Palestine, providing humanitarian assistance and offering scholarships to Palestinian medical students to complete their studies in Pakistan.
