PESHAWAR: Attacks on polio teams in different parts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa province so far this year have left 13 policemen martyred and 30 others injured.
On the other hand, Pakistan seems drifting further away from achieving the goal of being a polio-free country as five cases have emerged this year.
According to a report, 36 policemen guarding polio teams during immunization drives were also injured in the attacks till May 31, 2024.
The report compiled by the Counter-Terrorism Department said that four attacks on polio teams were carried out in Bannu, three each in Bajaur and Tank and one attack each in Khyber, Lakki Marwat, Mardan North and South Wazirstan.
