ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that privatizing loss-making state-owned enterprises is a key priority of the government.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting to review the privatization of electricity distribution companies. The meeting focused on evaluating progress and planning the next steps.
The prime minister directed officials to speed up the privatization process and ensure it is carried out with full transparency. He also emphasized the importance of creating a strong regulatory framework after privatization.
Officials informed the meeting that the first phase will include the privatization of Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Gujranwala Electric Power Company, and Faisalabad Electric Supply Company.
They added that expressions of interest have already been published in both local and international media, and the Cabinet Committee on Privatization has approved the transaction structure.
To attract investors, roadshows will begin this month, including international outreach in Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and China.
