TEHRAN: Iran and Iraq have signed four agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
The agreements were signed during Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi’s visit to Tehran in the presence of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The deals cover the construction of the Khosravi–Khanaqin–Baghdad railway, the designation of Baghdad and Tehran as sister cities, cooperation in public administration, and collaboration in training and human resource management.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, President Pezeshkian said that enhancing relations with neighboring countries, including Iraq, remains one of Iran’s top foreign policy priorities.
The agreements are expected to boost regional connectivity, administrative cooperation, and people-to-people ties between the two neighboring countries.
