PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the release of the province’s wheat quota for 2026 and fixed official prices for subsidised flour.
Under the approved plan, the Food Department will supply 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat daily to flour mills across the province. The wheat will be provided at a rate of Rs11,200 per 100 kilograms.
Following the release of government wheat, the ex-mill price of a 20kg flour bag has been fixed at Rs2,500, while its retail price will be Rs2,520.
The Food Directorate has made the installation of CCTV cameras mandatory for all operational flour mills. Mills will also be required to preserve video recordings for at least 30 days.
According to the department, wheat will be supplied under the approved 2026 standard operating procedures. Action will be taken if the moisture content of government-issued flour exceeds 13.5 percent.
Peshawar has been allocated the highest daily wheat quota of 218 metric tonnes, followed by Mardan with 125 tonnes, Swabi with 87 tonnes and Charsadda with 84 tonnes.
Nowshera has been allocated 80 metric tonnes per day, Lower Dir 76 tonnes, Swat 74 tonnes, while Bajaur and Upper Chitral will each receive 59 metric tonnes daily.
Officials said the quotas have been determined according to district population, with wheat supplies to operational flour mills to be ensured in phases.
