ISLAMABAD: The number of registered voters in Pakistan has declined by nearly 590,000 following an update of electoral rolls based on data received from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The latest electoral lists, updated between May 7 and July 2, 2026, show a net decrease of 589,458 registered voters across the country.
According to ECP data, 1,484,382 voters were removed from the electoral rolls after their deaths were recorded in NADRA’s database. During the same period, 894,924 newly eligible voters were added.
As a result, the total number of registered voters fell from around 137 million to 136,574,399. The number of male voters declined by approximately 450,000, while female voters decreased by around 138,000.
Punjab recorded the largest decline, with 478,909 fewer registered voters, while Sindh saw a reduction of 97,216.
ECP officials said electoral rolls are continuously updated using NADRA data under Section 25 of the Elections Act. Since voter registration is linked to national identity cards, the system also helps prevent duplicate entries.
The commission said regular revisions are aimed at maintaining an accurate and transparent record of eligible voters and strengthening the credibility of the electoral process.
