Pakistan Hails Renewed Efforts to Implement Gaza Peace Plan

Foreign Office Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has welcomed what it described as positive progress under the Board of Peace toward the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.

A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the mediation efforts by the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye were commendable and expressed hope that these efforts would help ensure the fulfillment of all commitments under the Gaza peace initiative.

Pakistan said such diplomatic efforts could contribute to the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. The Foreign Office reiterated that Palestinians should be allowed to exercise this right in accordance with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The spokesperson stressed that the political process should ultimately lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.

Pakistan has been participating in the U.S.-led Board of Peace framework aimed at supporting implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan. Islamabad formally accepted an invitation to join the Board earlier this year, saying its participation was intended to support lasting peace in Gaza.

The latest developments come as efforts intensify to implement arrangements involving the disarmament of armed groups, Israeli withdrawal, transitional Palestinian administration and international stabilization measures in Gaza.
