PORT OF SPAIN: The West Indies finished the opening day of the second Test against Pakistan at 239 for five after rain and poor light limited play to just 74 overs on Monday.
Justin Greaves remained unbeaten on 64, while Roston Chase was not out on 36 at the close of play. Brandon King contributed 46 before being dismissed.
Pakistan’s Mohammad Ali was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Ubaid Shah, Ali Usman and Sajid Khan claimed one wicket apiece.
The hosts made steady progress despite the interruptions, with Greaves and Chase holding firm late in the day to leave West Indies in a relatively strong position heading into the second day.
With only 74 overs completed, Pakistan will look to make early inroads on Tuesday and prevent the West Indies from building a sizeable first-innings total.
