China reaffirms support to strengthen Pakistan-Afghanistan ties

BEIJING: The Chinese Foreign Ministry has reiterated its commitment to supporting the improvement of relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan, expressing readiness to continue playing a constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability.

In an official statement, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry welcomed the move by Pakistan and Afghanistan to upgrade their diplomatic ties to the ambassadorial level.

“We believe this positive step will enhance mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries, and contribute to regional peace and joint efforts for stability,” the spokesperson said.

The statement highlighted that China is prepared to continue assisting both countries in fostering closer ties and is actively engaged in implementing the outcomes of the recent trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting involving China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

“China will persist in playing a constructive role in the development of Pakistan-Afghanistan relations,” the spokesperson affirmed.

Additionally, the spokesperson emphasized China’s willingness to work with regional countries to maintain peace and stability, and to promote the building of a community with a shared future among neighboring nations.

The remarks reflect Beijing’s broader foreign policy approach toward South Asia, which includes promoting dialogue, connectivity, and regional cooperation through diplomatic and economic initiatives.
