ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court has sentenced the accused in the high-profile murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf to death, while also imposing additional prison terms and a heavy fine.

The verdict was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, who had earlier reserved the decision after concluding hearings. The court ruled that the prosecution had successfully proven the charges against the accused, Umar Hayat, beyond reasonable doubt.

According to the judgment, the convict has been awarded the death penalty for murder. In addition, he has been sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison under various charges and fined 2.4 million rupees. The court also handed down separate 10-year sentences under multiple provisions, including robbery and unlawful entry.

During the trial, the prosecution presented key evidence, including mobile phone data, call records, and chat screenshots linking the accused to the victim. Medical testimony confirmed that Sana Yousaf sustained fatal gunshot injuries, with bullets severely damaging her heart and lungs, indicating clear intent to kill.

The defense argued against the death penalty, claiming procedural concerns and requesting leniency, but the court dismissed these arguments, emphasizing the strength of the evidence.

The case dates back to June 2, 2025, when Sana Yousaf was murdered at her residence in Islamabad. The accused was arrested the following day from Jaranwala.
