WASHINGTON: The U.S. military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) says its naval blockade targeting Iran remains fully in effect, with enforcement operations continuing across regional waters.
In a statement posted on X, CENTCOM said U.S. forces diverted 12 vessels that attempted to violate the blockade, disabled two ships that failed to comply with repeated warnings, and boarded two others for inspection.
According to the statement, U.S. personnel boarded the Comoros-flagged oil tanker Charminar in the Arabian Sea for inspection before allowing it to continue its voyage.
CENTCOM also said that on July 24, U.S. forces disabled the Mozambique-flagged oil tanker Lavin in the Gulf of Oman after its crew allegedly ignored repeated instructions and attempted multiple times to breach the blockade. The vessel is no longer heading toward Iran, the statement added.
The U.S. military said it resumed the maritime blockade on July 14, targeting ships traveling to or from Iranian ports, and warned that enforcement measures would continue against vessels violating the restrictions.
