LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of a Punjab Film City on 50 acres within the Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore, calling it the country’s first fully integrated end-to-end media production hub.

According to details, the project aims to provide modern facilities for film, television, animation, and digital media under one roof. It will include state-of-the-art studios, sound stages, post-production labs, and VFX facilities to reduce dependence on foreign production services.

The Film City will also feature dedicated shooting sets, a central artificial lake, a convention hall for international events, a media trade hub, and institutions such as a film and music school.

Officials say the project is expected to help revive Pakistan’s film industry while also boosting animation, gaming, and digital media sectors.

The initiative is projected to generate thousands of employment opportunities and is being described as a major step toward promoting the country’s creative economy.
