ISLAMABAD: Air travel between Iraq and Pakistan has officially resumed after an 86-day suspension caused by regional tensions.
The first flight, operated by Iraqi Airways, arrived from Baghdad in Karachi early in the morning, carrying passengers on flight IA-409. Shortly afterward, a return flight (IA-410) departed from Karachi back to Baghdad.
Flight operations on this route had been halted since late February due to escalating conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which disrupted regional airspace and travel schedules.
Officials confirmed that this was the first successful direct flight since mid-February, with several earlier scheduled flights in May having been canceled.
Authorities also indicated that additional routes may soon reopen, including direct flights between Baghdad and Islamabad, further restoring connectivity between the two countries.
