Eight more children die as pneumonia spreading in Punjab

Govt officials say cases have started rising aming all age groups in province.

LAHORE: As pneumonia cases have started spreading in the province, eight more children died of the disease in Punjab in the last 24 hours, according to health department officials. 

The health department on Sunday evening confirmed that 800 pneumonia cases among children were reported in the province with eight deaths in the last 24 hours.

So far in the current year, 8542 cases of pneumonia were reported in the province with 180 children succumbing to the disease.

In December 2023, as many as 9270 people contracted the disease in Punjab and 107 children died of it. 

According to doctors, the main symptoms of pneumonia include high grade fever, chest pain, cough, vomiting and loss of appetite.
