Federal cabinet approves special court for Makran division

Court will have jurisdiction over Panjgur, Kech, Gwadar, Hub and Lasbela districts.

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Friday approved the setting up of an additional special court in Makran division to deal with narcotics cases in Balochistan. 

The approval was given at a meeting of the cabinet held with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair. 

The court will have jurisdiction over Panjgur, Kech, Gwadar, Hub and Lasbela districts. The cabinet directed for making the prosecution process more effective, said a press release issued by the government on Friday. 

Addressing the meeting, Mr Sharif said the government was working on the agenda of economic reforms to put the country on track of development and progress.

He said Pakistan’s IT exports had recorded the highest ever increase. Foreign investment from friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, is increasing which would have positive impact on our economy, he told the meeting.

The cabinet also approved the extension of proof of registration (POR) cards of Afghan refugees till June 30 this year, enabling the card holders to avail schools, bank accounts and other facilities in Pakistan. 

The cabinet was briefed about progress on privatization of PIA. The cabinet directed the authorities concerned to ensure transparency in this regard.
