ISLAMABAD: The federal Board of Revenue has said that a record number of taxpayers filed their returns by end of September 30th this year.
He said that 3.5 million taxpayers filed their returns by September 30th while last year the number of all tax file returns was 1.6 million.
Presiding over a meeting, FBR Chairman Arshad Mahmood Langrial said that these 3.5 million taxpayers, mostly salaried class, had also paid 55 billion rupees tax yo the government.
It may be mentioned here that the last date for filing of the tax returns was Sept 30th, which the government extended till October 14.
The FBR chairman and other officials have said that the increase by almost 100% in the taxpayers filing their returns was encouraging for the economy of the country.
The government has already announced stringent measures to document the economy and take action against those who do not file their tax returns or even don’t pay any text at all.
