GILGIT: The caretaker government of Gilgit-Baltistan has requested additional security personnel from Punjab police to ensure safety during the upcoming elections in the region.
According to official sources, approximately 5,000 personnel from Punjab police will be deployed in the region.
This includes 1,500 officers from the Riot Management Force, 1,242 personnel from the Punjab Constabulary, and 1,958 officials from the Punjab Highway Patrol.
In addition, 300 officers from Lahore Police will also be sent to assist in maintaining law and order during the electoral process.
The directive was issued by the Additional Inspector General (Operations), instructing relevant departments to arrange suitable transportation for the personnel. Authorities have also been directed to submit detailed logistics plans, including transport and deployment information, to the Central Police Office (CPO).
