ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to streamline and strengthen the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework to accelerate the execution of development projects across the country.
The decision was taken during a meeting on Public-Private Partnership chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday.
According to details, it was agreed in principle that the PPP Authority will be placed under the Privatization Division to improve coordination, enhance efficiency, and align operations with modern governance requirements. The restructuring aims to fast-track ongoing and upcoming development initiatives under the PPP model.
The Prime Minister directed that the capacity of relevant ministries and departments be further enhanced so they can effectively design and implement development projects through public-private collaboration.
He also instructed that PPP-based projects be included in the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of ministries and departments to ensure performance monitoring and accountability.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said the government is working to improve transparency, efficiency, and delivery mechanisms within the PPP system through institutional reforms.
The meeting was also briefed on international and regional Public-Private Partnership models, highlighting best practices being adopted globally.
