ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission has denied social media reports that its database was hacked or that sensitive data had been leaked, terming the allegations false, misleading and baseless.

According to an official spokesperson, the commission’s Cyber Security Operations Centre immediately investigated the viral claims circulating online and confirmed that the data being shared does not belong to HEC’s degree attestation or verification systems.

The spokesperson clarified that the material circulating on social media has no connection with the HEC database and does not reflect any breach of its official systems. He further emphasized that the Commission’s data infrastructure and degree verification platform remain fully secure and operational.

HEC urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information on social media, warning that such rumors can create unnecessary confusion and panic among students and stakeholders.

Officials reiterated that all HEC digital systems are protected under strict cybersecurity protocols and continue to function normally without any compromise or breach.
