IPP Announces Candidates for Gilgit-Baltistan Elections

ISLAMABAD: The Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has finalized its strategy for the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan Elections, announcing candidates for nine constituencies.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the party’s 20-member election board chaired by party president Abdul Aleem Khan. He said that names for reserved seats for women and technocrats would also be finalized soon.

According to the party, candidates approved for the nine seats include Maulana Sultan Rais, Fatahullah Khan, Captain (retd) Shafiullah Khan, Iman Shah, Raja Jalal Hussain, Shamsul Haq Lone, Haji Shah Baig, Haji Gulbar Khan, and Khan Akbar Khan.

The meeting also discussed a possible electoral alliance with Tehreek-e-Islami Pakistan, with a final decision to be made after consultations.

Party leadership reiterated that IPP would actively participate in the elections, with senior leaders and lawmakers expected to visit Gilgit-Baltistan as part of the campaign.

Several party leaders, including members of the National and provincial assemblies, attended the meeting both in person and via video link. The election board is expected to announce additional candidates in the coming days.
