ISLAMABAD/TEHRAN: Iran has sent a new proposal to the United States through Pakistan, signaling cautious movement in stalled negotiations. Tehran warned that progress depends on a clear shift in Washington’s approach.

Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, confirmed the development on Sunday. He said Iran conveyed a fresh negotiation framework through Islamabad. “Iran has presented a new plan, but progress depends on US behavior,” the envoy stated.

He added that Tehran remains firm on its national and defense interests.  The ambassador stressed that Iran’s position remains “clear and transparent.” He urged Washington to show seriousness by adjusting its current strategy.

Pakistan’s Mediation Role Remains Central

Moghadam described Pakistan as a key mediator in the ongoing diplomatic channel. He said Islamabad’s role remains unchanged despite regional tensions. He also pointed to growing economic and political ties between Iran and Pakistan.

Border crossings such as Mirjaveh, Taftan, and Gabd-Rimdan continue to support trade flows. Iran maintained that diplomacy remains its preferred path forward. However, officials placed responsibility for progress squarely on Washington.

US Response and Rising Regional Tensions

US President Donald Trump confirmed that Washington received a 14-point proposal from Iran.
He said the administration would review the plan carefully. Trump did not rule out military options if diplomacy fails. His remarks signaled a dual-track approach of negotiation and pressure.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported increased coordination between military officials. Contacts between Israeli army chief Eyal Zamir and US CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper have intensified. These developments highlight rising regional concerns over Iran’s strategic position.
They also underscore the fragile state of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
