QUETTA: Serious financial irregularities amounting to Rs 4.15 billion have been uncovered in Bolan Medical Complex, according to sources familiar with a special audit report conducted for the years 2017 to 2022.
The report reveals that non-transparent payments totaling Rs 1.16 billion were made under the head of stipends for postgraduate doctors. Additionally, medicines worth Rs 1.93 billion were procured without conducting laboratory tests, raising concerns about both financial mismanagement and patient safety.
Sources further disclosed that audit teams were not provided with records worth Rs 382.2 million, an omission that casts further doubt on the integrity of the hospital’s financial practices.
The revelations were part of a special audit report, which has now been handed over to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for further investigation.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the findings, but the scale of the irregularities has prompted calls for accountability and reforms within the provincial health sector.
