LAHORE: In a thrilling contest of the Pakistan Super League Season 11, Hyderabad Kingsmen defeated Islamabad United by two runs in Eliminator 2 to secure a place in the final.
The match, played at Gaddafi Stadium, saw Islamabad United win the toss and choose to field first. Hyderabad Kingsmen posted a competitive total of 186 for 5 in their 20 overs, setting a target of 187 runs.
Usman Khan led the batting effort with an impressive 61 runs, including 10 boundaries. Captain Marnus Labuschagne contributed 39 runs, while Saim Ayub added 38 and Kusal Perera chipped in with 37.
For Islamabad United, Imad Wasim took two wickets, while Chris Green, Richard Gleeson and Faheem Ashraf claimed one wicket each.
Despite a strong effort, Islamabad United fell just short in the chase, losing by a narrow margin of two runs.
Speaking before the match, Islamabad captain Shadab Khan had emphasized the importance of handling pressure, while Hyderabad skipper Labuschagne expressed confidence in his team’s preparation.
Hyderabad Kingsmen had earlier advanced by defeating Lahore Qalandars, while Islamabad United entered the match after a heavy loss to Peshawar Zalmi in the qualifier.
With this victory, Hyderabad Kingsmen have booked their place in the PSL 11 final.
