LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore has introduced an automated system for practical examinations for the first time, marking a significant step toward transparency and digital reform.

The initiative comes as part of the Punjab government’s ongoing push to digitize the education system under the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Under the new system, the assignment of examiners for practical exams will now be carried out through a computerized process, ensuring fairness and eliminating manual interference. Officials said the move is aimed at ending the culture of favoritism, preventing individuals from securing duties at preferred centers.

Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has also directed further strengthening of transparency in the examination system.

According to the Lahore Board, all practical exams will gradually be shifted to a “central marking” system, for which preparations have been completed. The Controller of Examinations said the new system will reduce human involvement and ensure merit and transparency remain top priorities.
