NA Passes Rs18.77 Trillion Budget for FY2026–27

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has approved Pakistan’s federal budget for the next fiscal year, setting the total outlay at Rs18,771 billion on Tuesday.

The approval was moved by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb as lawmakers passed the Finance Bill, 2026, with amendments, formally authorizing the federal government’s financial plan for the year beginning July 1, 2026.

According to the budget documents, the government has set a GDP growth target of 4 percent and projected inflation at 8.2 percent for the upcoming fiscal year.

Revenue targets include Rs15,264 billion in Federal Board of Revenue collections and Rs5,336 billion in non-tax revenue. The federal Public Sector Development Programme has been allocated Rs1,000 billion, while Rs838 billion has been earmarked for the Benazir Income Support Programme.

A major share of development spending has been directed towards transport and communications, water resources, and energy sectors, with remaining funds distributed among education, agriculture, health, and information technology.

Officials said the budget also includes relief measures for salaried individuals as well as the agriculture, construction, and export sectors.
