Nawaz Sharif’s sons given clean chits

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad acquitted Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, sons of former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, in three corruption cases.

The Avenfield, Flagship and Al-Azizia reference cases were pending for years and the two sons of Mr Sharif had been earlier declared as proclaimed offenders. The court had also issued their arrest warrants.

A week ago, the two accused moved an application seeking withdrawal of the arrest warrants saying they wanted to surrender to the court. They returned from UK on March 12.

The court today heard arguments from both the sides and reserved judgement and later announced its decision to acquit the accused.
