RAWALAKOT: At least four security personnel were killed and more than 20 others injured after armed militants linked to a banned group opened fire in Rawalakot.
According to the Inspector General of Azad Kashmir Police, the attackers directly targeted on-duty personnel, with victims sustaining firearm and gunshot injuries.
Officials stated that the incident was not part of a peaceful political protest but a deliberate act of violence. The armed assailants also targeted law enforcement agencies and a medical facility, including the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalakot.
Authorities described the attack as an act of terrorism and vowed strict action against those responsible. The police chief emphasized that no group would be allowed to disrupt peace or hold the state system hostage.
Meanwhile, a police spokesperson paid tribute to the fallen personnel and reaffirmed the commitment of security forces to maintain law and order in the region.
