CHITRAL: A Pakistani mountaineering team has successfully crossed the 5,100-metre Phargam An Pass in the Hindu Kush for the first time in 27 years, marking a historic achievement in Upper Chitral.
The expedition included Chitral’s three sisters—Mehrosh Akhtar, Ismail Roz, and Madhu Shala Akhtar—who became the first women to complete the crossing.
During the mission, the team also located the memorial of Austrian climber Georg Kronberger, who died in the area in 1975.
The expedition was supported by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority.
