New era of progress is beginning, says Maryam Nawaz
My appointment is of great significance as I will be the first woman chief minister in history of Pakistan.
LAHORE: Chief organizer of PML-N and nominated chief minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said a new era of development and progress was about to begin in Pakistan.
Addressing a meeting of the parliamentary board of the PML-N, she said that the people of Punjab have given their mandate to the PML-N which would work hard to meet their expectations.
She said all members of the assembly would be given equal funds for the development of the province. Ms Maryam said that the PML-N government would work to resolve public issues under the guidance of the party’s supreme leader Nawaz Sharif.
She also said that health, education, infrastructure, law and order and agriculture sectors will be equally treated.
The nominated chief minister of Punjab said her appointment had a ‘historic significance’ as the first woman chief minister in Pakistan’s history.
“I attribute this honor to every mother, sister, daughter and girl child of Pakistan,” she said.
