ISLAMABAD: Police have issued a traffic plan and advisory for residents of the federal capital as high-level talks between Iran and the United States resume.
According to officials, strict security measures will be in place across Islamabad to ensure the safety of visiting delegations and maintain order during the negotiations. The Red Zone and its extended areas will remain completely closed to all types of traffic, while the Expressway from Korral to Zero Point will also be shut.
Traffic on Srinagar Highway may be halted intermittently, and entry of heavy vehicles into the capital has been completely banned. Authorities have advised transporters to avoid traveling towards Islamabad to prevent inconvenience.
Residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 have been directed to use Margalla Road and 9th Avenue for travel to and from Rawalpindi. Traffic from Faisal Avenue heading towards Zero Point will be diverted to 9th Avenue.
In case of closure at Zero Point and Korral Chowk, commuters can use Srinagar Highway, 9th Avenue, Stadium Road, Murree Road, and Rawal Road as alternative routes. Similarly, traffic from Park Road may be diverted to Tramri Chowk if Club Road is closed.
People traveling between Bhara Kahu and Rawalpindi have been advised to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road. Those commuting from Rawalpindi Saddar to Islamabad can use Colonel Sher Khan Road, Fakhar-e-Alam Road, or 9th Avenue.
For heavy traffic on GT Road, vehicles from Peshawar to Lahore are advised to use the motorway via Taxila and Chakri Interchange, while traffic from Lahore to Peshawar should follow the route via Rawat, Chak Beli Road, and Chakri Interchange.
Authorities have urged citizens to follow the advisory and plan their travel accordingly to avoid delays and inconvenience.
