UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan’s First Secretary Ansar Shah strongly rejected India’s remarks at the UN Security Council, accusing New Delhi of distorting facts and violating international law.
Responding to India’s comments, Shah said there is no provision in the Indus Waters Treaty allowing its unilateral suspension, calling India’s move illegal. He cited the August 2025 Court of Arbitration ruling, which reaffirmed that the treaty remains legally binding and fully in force.
On terrorism, Shah rejected India’s allegations against Pakistan, claiming India is “not a victim of terrorism but a sponsor of terrorism.”
He alleged that India supports militant groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), and Majeed Brigade, and referred to reported evidence of India’s involvement in extrajudicial killings abroad.
He also accused India of state terrorism in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, saying Kashmiris continue to be denied their right to self-determination in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
Shah urged India to fulfil its obligations under international law, the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions instead of denying established facts.
