LONDON: Samsung has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone lineup, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 during a launch event in London.
The company described the new devices as a key part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the foldable smartphone market ahead of the expected launch of Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
The flagship Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a triple-camera system, a larger battery, AI-powered productivity tools, improved durability and a redesigned premium build.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 introduces a wider 4:3 display, aimed at enhancing video streaming, multitasking and web browsing. It is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and comes with a dual-camera setup, a lighter design and an improved screen-to-body ratio.
Samsung has retained the signature clamshell design for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, while upgrading it with a stronger hinge, a larger external display, a faster processor and more durable materials for improved performance and longevity.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is priced at $2,099, making it $100 more expensive than its predecessor. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899, while the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is priced at $1,199, also reflecting a $100 increase over the previous model.
Industry analysts say Samsung’s latest foldable lineup is designed to reinforce the company’s leadership in the premium foldable segment and prepare for intensified competition as Apple is widely expected to enter the foldable smartphone market in the coming months.
