Norway will continue to cooperate with Pakistan in the field of renewable energy, Norwegian Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Norwegian Ambassador to Pakistan Kejal Gunnar Eriksen has called on Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub and assured him that Norway would continue its cooperation with Pakistan in the field of renewable energy.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy, Norwegian Ambassador to Pakistan Kejal Gunnar Eriksen called on Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub in Islamabad and discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation, including in the energy sector.

On the occasion, Omar Ayub said that there are vast opportunities for investment in the renewable energy sector in Pakistan, cheap energy would be available from energy production from local resources. Priority will be given to increasing the transfer of technology from foreign companies in the energy sector.

The Federal Minister further said that renewable energy projects would be completed through competitive bidding, transparency would be ensured to promote investment in the energy sector and new employment opportunities would be created through energy projects.

Norwegian Ambassador Kejal Gunnar Eriksen said on the occasion that Norway would continue its cooperation in Pakistan’s renewable energy sector, adding that Pakistan’s renewable policy was commendable.
