ISLMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday said that his party has decided to vote for the PML-N nominee for the prime minister but would not become part of a government.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said the central executive committee of his party discussed the post-election political situation at a meeting for two days which concluded here today.
The PPP chairman said his party has decided that it will not become a part of the federal cabinet but will support for the upcoming government and in the election of the prime minister.
He said the elections have been held and the people have given their mandate and do not want to see more crises in the country. He said the PPP could not get mandate to form a government at the centre and the PTI has announced not to join hands with the PPP for formation of a government. So, the PML-N has the mandate and we will support it in formation of its government.
In response to a question, he stated that it is the prerogative of the PML-N or others to nominate any person for the office of the prime minister.
In rely to a question, he said that the PPP had been part of the PDM government for 18 months over which it received public criticism. He said he desired to see Asif Ali Zaradri to become president of the country and play his role to steer the country out of the crises.
