Debt waiver or concessional loans should be provided to the affected countries, said the Prime Minister 

 

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the world including Pakistan is facing economic crisis due to Corona virus, though, debts of poor and developing countries should be forgiven or concessional loans should be given.

Addressing a special session of the UN General Assembly via video link, PM Imran Khan said that five developing countries have already defaulted due to Corona, the IMF has urged Pakistan to increase the growth rate.

He went on to say that the G20 countries are grateful for the debt relief, but that the world should forgive the debts of the world’s most backward countries in the wake of the global epidemic, or concessional loans for the least developed countries.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is facing severe economic crisis due to Corona which affected 6.5 million people in the country, we are fighting the global epidemic, Pakistan worked on a successful policy of smart lockdown and other developments. Like developing countries, Pakistan is reducing its budget deficit, he reiterated.

PM Imran said that corona virus has killed 1.5 million people globally, we are currently facing the second worst wave of corona, corona virus vaccine should be available to everyone, global health organization’s report is worrying related to some countries.

The Prime Minister said that it was necessary to bring back the looted wealth of corrupt politicians and criminals, to invest 1.5 trillion annually in the infrastructure sector, economic security, implementation of the UN Charter to end conflicts.
