Pakistan Condemns Indian Defence Minister’s Remarks on Kashmir

Foreign Office Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned what it described as “provocative and irresponsible” remarks made by India’s Defence Minister regarding the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said the Indian minister’s statements distort internationally recognized facts surrounding the Kashmir dispute, which, he noted, remains on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council.

According to the spokesperson, Pakistan rejects the remarks in the strongest terms, arguing that they reflect policies that threaten regional and international peace.

The Foreign Office added that the Indian minister’s comments were intended to divert attention from Indian occupied Kashmir, its support for terrorism in the region, and its domestic security challenges.

Andrabi also stated that Pakistan remains firmly committed to defending its sovereignty and would respond decisively to any acts of aggression. He referred to Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos as an example of what he described as the resolve demonstrated by Pakistan’s armed forces and the nation.

The statement comes amid continued tensions between Pakistan and India over the long-standing dispute over Jammu and Kashmir, with both countries maintaining sharply opposing positions on the issue.
