ISLAMABAD: Petroleum product prices in Pakistan are expected to decline the upcoming review due to changes in the global market, according to market sources.
Sources said the ex-refinery price of diesel has dropped by Rs31 per litre, while petrol prices have decreased by Rs8.54 per litre. The ex-refinery price of petrol has come down from Rs277.06 to Rs268.52 per litre.
However, customs duty on petrol has increased by Rs2.86 per litre, rising from Rs22.75 to Rs25.61 per litre. Meanwhile, the premium on petrol has also gone up by $2.90 per barrel, reaching $20.34.
On the international front, petrol prices fell from $144.57 to $138.08 per barrel, while diesel prices dropped from $169.1 to $151.40 per barrel.
The final decision regarding changes in petroleum prices will be taken by the government after consultations with the economic team, keeping revenue targets in mind. Officials say that if the government does not increase the levy margin, consumers may get some relief.
