SWAT: A police official was martyred while three others were injured when their mobile vehicle was targeted through a remote controlled bomb in Swat on Sunday.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police said that the mobile was part of the security provided 10 ambassadors of different countries who were on a visit to Swat. The police vehicle was targeted in Malam Jabba.
“As a result of the blast, Constable Burhan embraced martyrdom while Sub-Inspector Sarzameen, constables Amanullah and Habib Gul are injured injuries,” DIG Malakand Division Muhammad Ali Khan told media.
The police said that the ambassadors belonging to Russia, Iran, Portugal, Indonesia, Tajikistan, Kazakistan, Ethiopia and other countries remained safe. After the incidents the ambassadors rushed back to Islamabad.
According to the police, the ambassadors had attended a function of the chamber of commerce and industry Mingora and were later going to visit Malam Jabba when the incident occurred.
After the incident, the Foreign Office in Islamabad stated that all the ambassadors had reached Islamabad safely. It said that after visiting Swat and Malam Jabba the ambassadors were returning to Islamabad when a police vehicle on their security duty was hit by improvised explosive device (IED) blast.
The Foreign Office expressed shock over the incident and expressed sympathy with the family of the police officials who was martyred in the attack.
