PPP names Kundi, Salim as KP, Punjab governors

ISLAMABAD: The PPP has named Faisal Karim Kundi as the governor of KP and Sardar Salim Haider as the governor of Punjab.

The governor’s slots have been given to the PPP under a deal with the PML-N before the formation of the government by the PML-N at the center.

Kundi belongs to the Dera Ismail Khan district of KP and is currently the information secretary of the party. He remained the deputy speaker of the National Assembly during the PPP government from 2008 to 2013.

Sardar Salim hails from Attock district of Punjab. He is a former federal minister and is currently the president of the PPP Rawalpindi chapter. He was elected to the National Assembly from Attock in 2008.

He will replace Governor Baligh Ur Rehman of the ruling PML-N who assumed office on May 30, 2022, after the ouster of former prime minister Imran Khan-led government.
