PSG Champions League Win Sparks Violence in Paris, Hundreds Arrested

PARIS: Celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) victory in the UEFA Champions League turned violent in the French capital, resulting in clashes between protesters and police.

According to reports, unrest broke out across Paris as groups of individuals threw petrol bombs, attacked shops and set fire to garbage bins and other materials on the streets. Several vehicles were also damaged during the chaos.

Police confirmed that at least seven officers were injured in the clashes. Protesters reportedly used fireworks as projectiles, targeting law enforcement personnel.

Authorities arrested more than 400 individuals during the disturbances, recovering acid-filled bottles and other dangerous items from those detained.

Despite deploying around 22,000 security personnel across the city in anticipation of possible unrest, law enforcement was unable to fully contain the violence.

The unrest followed PSG’s victory over Arsenal in the Champions League final, which had initially sparked widespread celebrations among fans.
