Punjab CM Announces 460 Scholarships for Balochistan Students
LAHORE: The government of Punjab has announced 460 scholarships for students from Balochistan, aiming to expand access to higher education and support talented youth from underserved communities.
The initiative, launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is designed to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder students from pursuing their academic goals.
According to an official statement, students holding a domicile of Balochistan and enrolled in intermediate, undergraduate, MS, or MPhil programs for the 2025–26 academic year will be eligible to apply. Applications will be processed through the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund, with a focus on low-income and deserving candidates.
Welcoming the move, Mir Sarfraz Bugti praised the Punjab government and termed the scholarships an important step toward improving educational opportunities. He noted that such initiatives enable students from ordinary backgrounds to gain access to quality institutions, contributing to broader social development.
Officials emphasized that education remains a fundamental right, and efforts to improve the sector—particularly in Balochistan—will continue through collaborative initiatives.
