Punjab to Run Education Institutions Under Public-Private Partnership
LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to operate higher education institutions across the province under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to improve the quality of education.
According to official sources, all institutions currently functioning under the provincial government will be managed under the Public-Private Partnership Act 2025. The move aims to modernize the education system and align it with contemporary standards.
To oversee the legal, financial, and commercial aspects of the new system, a 13-member committee has been formed under the leadership of the Provincial Finance Minister. The committee includes key officials such as the Ministers for Law and Higher Education, Chairman of the Planning and Development Board, Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, and secretaries from relevant departments.
Authorities clarified that despite the PPP model, the Punjab government will retain full administrative and financial control. The initiative is intended to enhance academic standards while leveraging private sector expertise for better management and efficiency.
Officials believe the new system will significantly improve educational outcomes and ensure that institutions meet modern-day requirements.
