ISLAMABAD: Inflation continues to surge across Pakistan, with prices of essential commodities rising steadily in open markets, placing increased financial strain on low- and middle-income households.
Market sources report significant increases in the prices of ghee, cooking oil, tea, detergents, pulses, and sugar. The continuous rise has made it increasingly difficult for many families to afford basic necessities.
According to available data, premium quality ghee and cooking oil are now being sold at Rs590 to Rs595 per kilogram. Second-grade products have reached around Rs540 per kilogram, while lower-grade items have climbed to as high as Rs470 per kilogram.
Rice prices have also increased, with different varieties currently being sold between Rs320 and Rs640 per kilogram.
Consumers say the rising cost of living is severely affecting household budgets, with even middle-income groups now facing serious financial pressure.
Citizens have urged the government to take immediate and effective measures to control prices and provide relief to the general public.
