Saudi Arabia Rejects Trump’s Invitation to Join Abraham Accords

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has firmly rejected an invitation from Donald Trump to join the Abraham Accords, reiterating that normalization with Israel is conditional on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

According to international reports, the Saudi government made it clear that it will not move toward diplomatic relations with Israel unless there is a clear, credible, and irreversible path toward the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state. The position reflects the Kingdom’s long-standing policy on the Palestinian issue.

In an official statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized that any potential agreement must be based on a just and comprehensive solution, particularly the two-state framework. The statement added that lasting peace in the Middle East depends on ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Mohammed bin Salman has also repeatedly stated that Saudi Arabia will not recognize Israel without the formation of a Palestinian state. Similarly, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud has reiterated this stance at global forums, including the United Nations.

The development comes after Trump urged several Muslim-majority countries—including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, and Turkey—to join the Abraham Accords during discussions related to the Iran deal.

However, Saudi Arabia’s response signals that its position on Palestine remains unchanged despite increasing diplomatic pressure.

The decision highlights the continued centrality of the Palestinian issue in Middle Eastern geopolitics and underscores the challenges facing broader regional normalization efforts.
