Security forces kill nine terrorists in operation: ISPR

Statement says slain terrorists include their commander Shireen involved in martyrdom of army officer.

RAWALPINDI: Security forces eliminated nine militants, including a most-wanted terrorist commander, during an intelligence-based operation in the Takwara area of Dera Ismail Khan.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted the operation based on intelligence during the night between April 6 and 7 in Takwara, where a firefight ensued, resulting in the killing of nine militants.

ISPR stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists. Among them was Shireen, the leader of the militant group, who was on the most-wanted list of law enforcement agencies.

Shireen was involved in the targeted killing of several civilians and was responsible for the martyrdom of Captain Hasnain Akhtar.

ISPR added that a clearance operation was ongoing in the area, and security forces were determined to eliminate terrorism completely.

A statement issued from the President House paid tribute to the security forces for the successful operation against the terrorists, stating that the elimination of the group’s leader was a major success for the security forces.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the security forces for the successful operation against the militant group, stating that the entire nation stands with the forces in the war against terrorism and is committed to eliminating all forms of terrorism from the country.
