PESHAWAR: The district and sessions judge of South Wazirstan was on Saturday kidnapped by armed men and taken away to unknown place, according to the police of the area.
A senior police officer said that the judge, Shakirullah Marwat, was intercepted in the Bhagwal village located on the border of Tank and Dera by armed persons. They dragged out the judge, bundled him into their vehicle and took him away, leaving behind his car and driver.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Khyber Pakthunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur took notice of the incident and ordered the provincial police chief to utilize all resources and ensure the safe recovery of the kidnapped judge.
However, PPP leader Faisal Karim Kundi expressed shock over the incident and said kidnapping of a judge showed the breakdown of law and order situation. He said the chief minister should tell the masses why he was not serious in ensuring peace in the province.
