KARACHI: The Sindh School Education Department has issued fresh directives for private schools, announcing a province-wide schedule of Independence Day celebrations while introducing new measures aimed at improving educational standards.
According to the department, private schools will organize a series of Independence Day events from August 1 to August 14, 2026. The celebrations will include poster, art and painting competitions, speech contests, cultural programs, tree plantation drives, flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades and rallies.
Schools have been directed to ensure the active participation of both students and teachers. They have also been instructed to submit reports, photographs and videos of the events to the designated focal person.
Deputy Director Nasrullah Hamza has been appointed as the focal person for coordinating the Independence Day activities across the province.
In a separate directive, the School Education Department has introduced new measures to enhance academic quality in private educational institutions.
Under the new policy, all private schools will be required to implement an annual evidence-based teacher performance evaluation system. Teachers will be assessed on their academic qualifications, teaching skills, classroom management and students’ academic performance.
The department has also instructed schools to recruit only teachers possessing the required academic qualifications and relevant teaching experience.
Private schools will be required to maintain regular records of students’ academic progress and keep parents informed about their children’s performance on a continuous basis.
School administrations have been made responsible for monitoring academic activities and ensuring that educational standards are maintained.
The Education Department said the new measures were necessary following unsatisfactory examination results reported by some private institutions and directed all schools to comply with the instructions without exception.
