Task force formed to trace Islamabad rioters

PM also decides to set up a special anti-riot force to deal with violent protests and marches in federal capital.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a task force to identify those responsible for creating chaos in Islamabad in the name of a protest rally a few days ago.

Chairing a meeting held to review law and order situation, the prime minister also decided to set up Federal Riot-Control Force to prevent future attempts to spread chaos and violence in the country.  

Headed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the task force will have Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Division Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and representatives of security forces as its members.

The force will be equipped with professional training and necessary equipment on the lines of international standards.

In addition, the meeting also decided to set up the Federal Forensic Lab in which modern technology will be used to investigate and collect evidence of such incidents.

It may be noted that the PTI held a march to the federal capital on Nov 26, mostly from the KP province. During their march from KP that started on Nov 24 the participants clashed with police and Rangers. 

Once in Islamabad, the government offered them to hold their protest at Sangjani or Parade Ground. However, wife of Imran Khan Bushra Bibi insisted on reaching D Chowk. However, she and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur avoided reaching D Chowk and fled back to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when law enforcers launched an oeperation to clear D Chowk.
