WASHINGTON: A planned visit to Pakistan by a US delegation comprising Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner has been cancelled, President Donald Trump confirmed.

The two-member delegation was earlier scheduled to travel to Islamabad today as part of diplomatic engagements. However, speaking to US media, President Trump announced that the visit has been called off, adding that Iran could hold talks with the United States whenever it chooses.

The development comes shortly after the arrival of an Iranian delegation in Islamabad led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. During the visit, the delegation held meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Following the meetings in Islamabad, the Iranian delegation departed for further visits to Muscat and Moscow.
