United Kashmir Journalists Association elects new office-bearers

ISLAMABAD: The United Kashmir Journalists Association (UKJA) here on Sunday elected its new body through a democratic process.

According to a notification, all the office-bearers were elected unopposed after the opposing candidates withdrew their nomination papers.

According to notification issued by UKJA elections commission, Dr. Ashraf Wani was elected as President, Shabir Ahmad Dar as Senior Vice President, Peerzada Mudassir Shafi as Vice President, Naeem-ul-Asad as Secretary General, Chaudhary Asif Mahmood as Secretary Information, Bilal Ahmad Wani as Secretary Finance, and Javed Ahmad Mir as Chief Organizer.

Association members have congratulated the newly-elected office bearers, expressing hope that the new body will work towards the welfare of the association and highlight the Kashmir issue on the media front.

Meanwhile, the newly-elected President and Secretary General have assured that the new body would uphold the UKJA constitution, protect the community, and highlight the Kashmir freedom movement. They pledged to meet members’ expectations and lead the association to further success.
